What were your reasons for deciding to use the HR Solutions Hub tools and managed service to support your recruitment?

Good reputation, used by a number of other Fire and Rescue Services. Furthermore, the quote we received was good value for money.

 

To ease the administrative burden on the Human Resources dept. The process can be very resource intensive, so being able to outsource the initial sifting stage to a third party with previous experience of supporting Fire Service recruitment campaigns would clearly benefit us.

 

A quicker and more efficient way of managing a vast number of applications. The service allowed us to review our eligibility criteria required for the role faster and efficiently than if we had to do this manually. Plus, this allowed us to continue with our recruitment campaign over the Pandemic.

Please provide some feedback on how you believe HR Solutions Hub has helped to improve your recruitment processes.

The tools enabled us to manage the administrative burden placed on the Service at the initial stage of the process. The assessments provided a means to reduce candidates based on a level 2 assessment of Maths and English and through a situational judgement test. The tests allowed for objective decision making based on empirical evidence.

 

We believe that using the SIFT tool has enabled us to shortlist new candidates who may not have scored so well using our previous way of shortlisting. Online assessments allow everyone to start on the same foot and it uses consistent measures to assess suitability for the role.

Having a project managed approach, whereby they were able to run the online tests for us, saved us an invaluable amount of time.

How useful was the advice and support provided to you by your HR Solutions Hub Advisor when planning, setting up and implementing the online sifting process for your recruitment process?

HR Solutions Hub clearly set out the steps that we as an organisation had to go through to plan, set up, and implement the online sifting process. A checklist of key tasks was provided along with an outline project plan, which helped us understand the process.

What were the greatest benefits you gained by using our managed service?

The ease of ranking the candidates correctly, helping us to manage the volume of applicants we had. We are a small team, so this was a huge benefit and saved us a lot of time.

 

From the start, Tim was really helpful explaining in good detail. He provided clear breakdowns of cost, and what we can and can't do by using the service. 

We managed to get 20 good candidates through the process and appreciate all the hard work from HRSH to help us get to this.

 

They made the initial sifting process much easier to implement and deliver whilst also providing a fair and accessible process which resulted in us getting a cohort of applicants who were both eligible and suitable for the role.

 

The whole application process was outsourced and, as a small team, this was invaluable to us, we would have struggled to manage doing this in-house.
